The SSI Rockets team builds Level 1 and Level 2 high-powered rockets through the Tripoli Rocketry Association, and is researching new systems for L3 rockets. The Rockets Team Faculty Advisor is Dr. Hai Wang.
The team is currently working on preliminary designs for Project Daedalus, a suite of 4 rockets designed to test novel rocketry technologies: Talos will test rocket avionics, Charybdis will test canted fins, Prometheus will test PID fin control, and Pegasus will test a parafoil recovery system.
The SSI Rockets team has benefitted greatly from the support and guidance of the Mavericks Civilian Space Foundation, which provides tutelage, expertise, and resources that help make the team's projects a reality.
The current team leads are Christopher May and Ian Gomez.
