The SSI Rockets team builds Level 1 and Level 2 high-powered rockets through the Tripoli Rocketry Association, and is researching new systems for L3 rockets.  The Rockets Team Faculty Advisor is [[Dr. Hai Wang]].
   −
The team is currently undergoing design review and manufacturing of its first Tier 3 rocket, "Lightning," a 14 foot solid rocket that will reach 42,000 feet at Mach 2 by Spring 2015. Next year, the team will construct the second stage, "Thunder," with the goal of flying past the Kármán line. The construction of Lightning and Thunder would not be possible without support and guidance from the Mavericks Civilian Space Foundation, which provides tutelage, expertise, and resources that help make the team's projects a reality.
+
The team is currently working on preliminary designs for [[Project Daedalus]], a suite of 4 rockets designed to test novel rocketry technologies: [[Talos]] will test rocket avionics, [[Charybdis]] will test canted fins, [[Prometheus]] will test PID fin control, and [[Pegasus]] will test a parafoil recovery system.
